Our Story
Where clinical experience meets creative problem-solving.
HandForm3D was founded on a simple belief: when a solution doesn't exist, it's worth exploring how to create one.
Occupational therapists are trained to think creatively, adapt their approach, and use the tools available to help people overcome challenges. For founder Richard Whalley, OTD, OTR/L, CHT, 3D printing offered a natural extension of that philosophy.
Originally introduced into his hand therapy practice as a tool for rehabilitation and innovation, 3D printing opened new possibilities for developing therapeutic equipment, adaptive devices, and practical solutions to everyday problems.
Our Philosophy
A solution-oriented approach.
We believe innovation begins with understanding the challenges people face, not simply with the technology available to address them.
Start with the person.
Consider individual needs, environments, and meaningful activities before exploring potential solutions.
Think beyond the standard.
Explore creative adaptations, functional improvements, and customized approaches when conventional options fall short.
Make function the priority.
Use practical feedback and thoughtful iteration to improve usability, accessibility, and everyday performance.
